We start the day early with a pick-up from your Koh Samui hotel between 8:00-9:00am. The morning consists of visiting the big Buddha temple that sits prettily on its own island at the northeastern corner of Koh Samui. In this area, we will also show you the local people’s temple, Blai Lem Temple, where there are magnificent giant statues: the Laughing Buddha and the Chinese Lady Monk. Here could be great for the kids as you can feed the catfish as well as enjoy the temple complex.
Next, we drive up into the mountains to enjoy a breathtaking, 360° view over the island, and enjoy a panoramic lookout from seats on top of the car (optional). At the mountain peak, we’ll visit the recently constructed Wat Teepangkorn Temple and see the golden Buddha statue that overlooks Lamai town and beach from afar. From here, you really get an incredible perspective of the true beauty of the island.
We then leave the temples behind and move onto the cultural part of the tour. You explore the magic Buddha garden, also known as the secret garden, and stroll through the many stone statues built by local artists and craftsmen. Enjoy a delicious Thai lunch around noon at a mountain top restaurant with a stunning view over the coconut plantations below that roll down to the sea. Once you’re full, stroll through these plantations and witness the workers collecting and processing magically useful fruits together with rubber tapping—another important way of life for traditional Koh Samui communities.
The last part of the day is all about fun as you head to the waterfall and cool down in Namuang Waterfall if you so desire. Even if you don’t swim, just being close by will stir the senses and freshen you up.
We wrap up the day with a visit to the Guan Yu Chinese shrine and the strangely shaped grandfather and grandmother rocks. Here, we’ll hear the story behind the names of these famous seaside monuments. Your tour will end with a transfer back to your hotel, where you will arrive around 4:00pm. We hope to have just enough time to catch the last rays of the sun and take a dip in the pool!
