On the morning of your trip, you will be picked up from your place of accommodation and we will drive by comfortable minivan along the coastal road of Koh Samui to the rustic pier of Thongkrut at the very southern tip of the island. At Thongkrut pier you will be introduced to your English-speaking guide and learn a little about the day ahead before boarding your speed boat. After enjoying some soft drinks your boat will depart the South of Koh Samui and head to the mainland, zipping across the waves and passing by the Five Islands.
Once at the Kanom area there will be a near 99% chance you will see the dolphins playing and swimming in their natural habitat. This area of Nakorn Sri Thammarat province is the best area to see these amazing creatures of the big blue. Here they are at home and roaming free as they should be. You can photograph at your leisure while you learn about the dolphin’s behavior and lifestyle from your guide. With any luck they will be splashing about happy to see their visitors. The dolphins should not be fed at this point of the day and it’s highly appreciated by the local people to respect their natural feeding patterns. After sightseeing the dolphins you will take a short break on the beach of the mainland.
Next, you will move on to the unspoilt paradise island of Koh Taen where you enjoy some delicious Thai food along with the fresh sea air at your beach side restaurant. At Koh Taen you have free time to either snorkel around the coral reef and do a little underwater sightseeing or just relax on the beaches of these undeveloped and quiet sister islands of Koh samui which have kept their peaceful tropical charm. Once you’ve finished exploring the islands of Koh Taen and Koh Madsum the boat will head back to Koh Samui.
At Thongkrut pier basecamp you can enjoy a delicious and filling lunch at one of the best restaurants in the area. To use a well known phrase this short trip is like a holiday from your holiday as you encounter rare wildlife and tranquil unspoiled islands and beaches. We will take you back to your hotel by comfortable minivan again. As the locals say we’ll 99% guarantee the sight of the dolphins. We will 99% guarantee you will be fast asleep in the van on the way back or checking and chopping your photos of the memorable day behind you.
There are altogether 7 main islands off the southern coast of Samui. 5 of them are small limestone karsts and clustered together to form a beautiful gateway and landmark for everyone who travels to the island by ferry from the mainland. The other 2 are Koh Madsum, now popularly known as Pig Island and also Koh Taen a larger island with coral reef and mangrove forests. On this trip we will pass the 5 islands up close and visit Koh Taen.
